Social Responsibility Statement
Parkvets are a market leading supplier of veterinary and pet care service in the South-East of England. We have a very strong local brand, synonymous with quality and value.
Parkvets are an ethically led business and as such we have a stated commitment to contribute and enhance the local communities which we serve.
Pets and Pet Owners
We are not trying to be all things to all people. Parkvets are committed to working with people or groups who place a high value on the wellbeing of animals under their care. This includes but is not restricted to:
- Pet owners who view their pet as a part of the family
- Owners or organisations that use working dogs and need their animals in top condition.
It is as important to us that you are cared for as well as your pet hence our motto "Care and Excellence", client care combined with clinical excellence.
Each of our sites (this website included) complies with Fire, Health and safety and Disability legislation.
Community
Although a large veterinary practice, each Parkvets branch operates at the heart of its community. We engage in a number of activities to ensure we are contributing much more than just a veterinary service:
- Support for local charities.
- Outreach program - Parkvets regularly sends staff to schools, colleges and local interest groups to do educational presentations.
- Work experience - we provide limited placements for undergraduate vets who live locally. We are also a vet nurse training centre so we are helping to train tomorrow's generation of vets and nurses.
- Recruitment of most of our 80 staff is from the local community making us a significant contributor to the local economy.
The Environment
Parkvets recognise climate change as a global issue that will only be tackled by local communities taking collective responsibility for their actions. We do not claim to be perfect but we are actively taking steps to improve our performance in this area. So far we have achieved the following:
- We recycle all of our paper, cardboard and drinks cans.
- We adhere rigidly to waste management legislation
- We recycle printer cartridges via local charities.
- We use biodegradable polythene bags.
- We have engaged environmental agencies to perform an environmental audit and help us to accelerate our progress.
Staff
Parkvets strive to provide a safe, clean, friendly and challenging environment in which to work.
All staff receive full training via induction and developmental review processes. Every staff member has a line manager to oversee this process.
We believe happy staff create a good atmosphere that allows our staff to enjoy their work, hence your pets receive better care.
The majority of our staff are recruited locally from your community.
Parkvets does not tolerate harassment, abuse or discrimination of any form.
Suppliers
We are careful about who we work with and chose our suppliers based on their reputation for:
- Quality
- Reliability
- Ethical approach
For example you might know that our vaccine company Intervet lead the market in producing safe, effective vaccinations that protect thousands of dogs each year. But you probably didn't know that for every rabies vaccination you buy at Parkvets, they contribute two vaccines to a rabies control project in the South African, Serengeti.

We enjoy cordial relations with our suppliers and we pass the feedback on products you give us back up the chain to our suppliers, which help them to make better products!
Where possible we make use of local suppliers.
You
This policy is a statement about how we do business rather than what we do. Parkvets, although a large practice, is not a faceless organisation. We welcome your feedback on this policy or any aspect of what we do. Your opinions help to shape our future.
