Biography

Andy grew up in a small village in the middle of the Cotswold Hills, where his family still live. His passion for animals grew from his mother who is a shepherdess and has close ties to the rural community and its farming background. His greatest passion when young was rugby which he played at local club and county level.

Andy went to Liverpool Veterinary School and graduated in 2000 with honours. His first job was in Meopham as a mixed vet although most of his time was spent working with horses and large animals. After a winter of cold and wet days Andy saw the error of his ways. Recognising the greater demands and depth of knowledge required by small animal practice he wisely took a position at Parkvets.

Since joining Parkvets Andy has performed many roles as an assistant but is now settled at the hospital in Footscray. Parkvets provides veterinary services to the Metropolitan Police Force and Andy spends two mornings a week at their dog training school, providing care for their dogs. He also delivers training seminars to the dog handlers on many aspects of welfare.

Andy's is a true all rounder who has completed further studies in several subjects including; medicine, anaesthesia, critical/emergency care and diagnostic imaging. As he says "I can often be found in a darkened room peering at x-rays or using our ultrasound machine". He is currently furthering an interest in dentistry and is strongly committed to continual improvement of all of his skills, both medical and surgical, over the coming years.

Of his time at Parkvets so far Andy comments "We have an extraordinarily committed and knowledgeable team at Parkvets, I count myself privileged to do something I have wanted to do my whole life every day and still look forward to the challenges, joy, sadness and success that come everyday here."

When not working Andy can most often be found climbing and walking in the mountains of Britain and aboard and slumming it in a tent!

Additional Info

Andy has undertaken extensive further training in dentistry and can undertake periodontal, exodontal and endodontic procedures.(Gum disease, teeth extraction and root canal work.)

Andy is a licensed government vet so he can issue pet passports.
