Biography

Laura graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004, and started work in small animal practice shortly afterwards. Laura came to Parkvets in August 2007, attracted by the group's reputation as a friendly, forward-thinking practice passionate about practising good veterinary medicine.

Laura completed a final year elective in Feline Medicine and retains a strong interest in this area though she is really enjoying having the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in all species and disciplines.

Preventative Healthcare

She feels particularly strongly about preventative healthcare, especially in older pets saying, "It is very much the case that the key to successful management of the majority of problems we treat is early detection and regular monitoring - not only can this help to increase the pet's lifespan, it can have a huge positive impact on their quality of life as well!"

She also very much enjoys working with rabbits and "small furries". Being the owner of a very sweet 8 year old Guinea Pig called Glynis ensures she has quite a soft spot for her smaller patients.

Local Londoner

Laura's cat Chas

A born and bred North Londoner, Laura is gradually adjusting to being the other side of the Thames. She still appears at home quite frequently in order to minister to Plankton (pictured right), the family cat who she adopted during her first 6 months in practice ("it's a rite of passage - you're not a proper vet till you've taken home a waif or stray!")

In her spare time she can sometimes be found in the gym, but more often than not curled up with a cup of tea and a good book. She gets the travel bug quite frequently, having most recently spent an amazing month in the USA working as a volunteer for a rural preventative medicine society and taking in the sights at the same time. She also enjoys spending time under the water with a scuba tank.

Settling in Well

Having settled quickly into life at Parkvets, Laura is hoping to stay around for some time. Commenting on her colleagues at Belvedere she said, "The team here are really friendly and supportive, and I love Belvedere."

Adding, "Although it has only been my responsibility for a short time I already feel that it is my branch and I look forward to building relationships with all the pet owners in the area."

Additional Info

Laura is a licensed government vet (LVI) so she can issue pet passports.
