Biography
Will graduated from Bristol Vet School in 2000, and followed that up with 3 years of mixed practice in Wiltshire, splitting his time between pets and farm work.
In 2003 Will decided to progress his small animal expertise, specifically related to surgery and so joined Parkvets. He has been based at our Swanley branch ever since and is studying for his certificate in small animal surgery (an advanced veterinary qualification), and hope to sit the exams in the summer of 2008.
Will says he chose to come to Parkvets because of the high level of equipment and facilities. But it was the human factor that really appealed, "It was clear that with availability of other vets to discuss cases that the standard of care I could give to my patients was excellent".
In the summer of 2006 will got married to Jude, the tow live locally with their two cats, Molly and Marmite. Will and Jude seem to have it made! As an accountant, Jude doubles up as a very handy tax advisor for Will when she has finished her commute from London. In return, Will provides the medical care for her 'pride'!
And his qualifications were unfortunately called upon when Marmite was only four months old. The kitten developed a severe urine infection which had pushed him into kidney failure. After extensive investigations, six months of aggressive antibiotic treatment and frequent blood tests (not to mention a hefty bill for the insurance company) marmite finally recovered. Reflecting humorously on what was clearly a worrying time Will says "I certainly know how all those cat owners feel when I ask them 'how is he with tablets?'"
In his spare time Will plays hockey most weekends, goes out mountain biking (on the wild mountains of Kent) and spends far too long watching cricket (apparently).
Additional Info
Will is a licensed government vet (LVI) so he can issue pet passports.
