Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon
Location: Branch Surgeries & Hospital S.E. London / N.W. Kent
Reports to: Veterinary Manager

Purpose of Job

To contribute to the overall success of the practice by providing first opinion veterinary services. The successful applicant will be mentored throughout and perform the role in an organisation committed to ongoing personal development. They will achieve the RCVS year one competencies to aid in their future development as a veterinary surgeon.

Key Duties

  • Handle a 1st opinion caseload personally. Recognising problems and recommending appropriate investigative approaches to owners.
  • Develop confidence in basic surgical/medical and diagnostic techniques.
  • The appropriate use of pharmaceutical medicines.
  • Promote good animal welfare and preventative medicine in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Complete the RCVS PDP year one competencies.
  • Promote and represent the Practice on site and in the local community. Assist in the training, development and supervision of all members of the Team.
  • Support practice initiatives and follow policy at all times.
  • Develop an understanding of organizational needs from a business perspective.
  • Undertake special responsibilities and any other reasonable duties which may be assigned from time to time.

Specialist Skills Required

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid UK drivers license.

Personal Skills Required

  • Good communication skills - verbal, written and listening.
  • Polite and persuasive with good presentation skills.
  • Caring and understanding attitude.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours.
  • Ability to assimilate and analyse information, paying great attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain veterinary matters to clients clearly and simply. Ability to work alone and as part of a team as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, planning time and priorities.
