Biography
Laura grew up in Orpington and from an early age knew that she wanted to be a vet. she worked as a veterinary nurse before going to university at the Royal Veterinary College in London, and then continued working as an emergency veterinary nurse for a small animal practice in London during her time at university.
One of her periods of work experience was spent with the team at Parkvets and she so enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, and learnt such a lot whilst a student there, that she set her sights on working for Parkvets at some point in her career.
Laura graduated in July 2007 and her first job as a veterinary surgeon was for a small animal practice in North West London, where she stayed for a year. She really enjoyed her time there but became frustrated with having to refer cases continually as they did not have the equipment or expertise to handle complicated cases.
She knew this wouldn’t be the case at Parkvets so got in touch, went through the most gruelling interview process and started in a Flexi-vet position for Parkvets.
This did not last very long though because the opportunity came up to take charge of the Chislehurst/Mottingham branch and she jumped at the chance and then more recently was promoted to the hospital. Laura loves the fact that she will now be able to build relationships with clients and their pets.
In her spare time she likes to socialise with friends (that means eat and drink), go to the gym (that means try to undo the eating and drinking), travel (she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro one summer!) and visit music gigs/festivals where she has a reputation as an Amy Winehouse lookalike – Don’t ask!
