Advances in veterinary medicine, modern vaccines and improvements in pet nutrition are just three of the reasons that the life expectancy of today’s pets is greater than ever before!
One of the big advances in pet nutrition is the advent of life-stage diets. Dogs and cats require a balanced diet to remain fit and well.
However they require differing levels of nutrients at different stages of their lives. With this in mind life-stage diets have been developed with precisely tailored levels of energy and nutrients depending on the age and breed of your pet.
Puppies and kittens require a balanced diet with higher levels of energy protein for muscle development and essential fatty acids for a healthy coat.
In addition there are special formulations for large and giant breed dogs.
Adult dogs and cats have completed their major growth phase and as a result - whilst they still require a balanced diet - do not require many of the nutrients mentioned above at such high levels. Obesity can be a problem in less active pets and lower energy versions of adult diets are also available.
