A Great Deal for Rotten Teeth
This year we introduced our Dental Charter which was created to highlight the significance of dental disease (the most common painful/debilitating disease seen in UK pets).
Along with the charter we introduced an amazing treatment discount for proactive pet owners who act fast to treat their pet's dental problems. Read on to find out why we've taken this ground breaking approach.
Why is Dental Disease So Prevalent?

For years pet owners and vets were unaware just how important it was to look after a pet's teeth. The disturbing reality is that every pet in Britain is likely to suffer from some sort of painful dental problem - sadly the majority of these cases will go untreated for years.
One of the biggest reasons for this is the quality of food many pets are fed. In a bid to constantly outdo competitors many producers are employing the same tricks of the human food trade. Take a lower quality tasteless food source, add fat, sugar and salt and hey presto you have a cheap palatable product pets will eat and people will pay for.
This mushy food stuff contains minimal roughage so the teeth collect more debris and the high sugar and fat levels provide an amazing breeding ground for bacteria.
The advent of individual pouches of food and 'gourmet' pates seems to have made things even worse and anecdotally we see the worst dental disease in cats fed only on pouches, or toy breed dogs fed largely on 'gourmet' foods.
It is now at the point where according to the British Veterinary Dental Association up to 85% of pets over the age of three years have painful dental problems.
The Impact of Dental Disease
Fact, in human medicine people with good gums and teeth will live a significantly longer time than those with poor dental health. The damage inflicted on the body by years of persistent infection spreading from the gums into the blood stream puts the immune system under enormous pressure and cause chronic damage to the internal organs of the body, as a result the individual dies at an earlier age.
We see the same effects in pets.
Transform Their Lives
Take an old dog or cat with severe dental disease, remove the affected teeth, correct the gum disease. Then wait to be amazed when the client comes back a week later and tells you, "I don't know what you did, but he's behaving like puppy again, he's got more life in him than he's had for years." (If you don't believe us read Acer Steptoe's amazing story here.)
As we already said - TEETH MATTER! The thing is the pet should never have gotten to this point.
Parkvets Dental Leadership
Dentistry is not exciting. It doesn't grab the attention or excite most vets or pet owners in the same way as a dog with a broken leg.
Dentistry is hard to recognise for many people and harder to understand. 'I can't see the problem and if my pet is eating then how could it be in pain?' - A common question from clients.
For these reasons dental problems have been 'off the radar' of pet owners and vets alike. But the truth is that dental disease is far, far more likely to be affecting your pet in a negative way than any other condition. In fact statistically it is likely that right now your pet has a dental problem that would benefit greatly from treatment.
We are extremely proud that for the past two decades we have been proactive in looking for and treating dental disease. Our focus on reinvestment in new equipment and training, plus our two dedicated dental theatres have allowed us to be leaders in this field, a position we intend to maintain.
So it is with excitement that we announce the publication of our dental charter, further upgrading of our equipment, skills and a fantastic special offer to reward you for taking positive action for your pet should dental treatment be required.
The Parkvets Dental Charter is the embodiment of our commitment to you and your pet's teeth.
Special Offer - 10% Off All Dental Treatments

As of now, our commitment to you and your pet is that if we find a problem that requires treatment we'll give you a 10% discount on that treatment. In return you must act quickly to alleviate your pet's problem - so the discount will be valid for a period of 14 days following diagnosis.
Following completion of treatment or at any time during the year you can visit our nurse clinics for a dental health assessment which will not cost you a penny.
